gamelan in the worlds

Where to play gamelan

Playing gamelan is a great musical activity which can be enjoyed by everyone.

There are a number of groups in the UK which offer regular playing sessions with tuition.

The Oxford Gamelan Group

Beginners are always made welcome and no musical experience is necessary. You will be expected to take your shoes off and it is usually necessary to sit on the floor.

Some locations offer special classes for younger children or families.

Listed below are groups where you can learn to play gamelan.

The individual contacts given for each group will be pleased to let you have further information.

Groups are listed in alphabetical order of location.

Most groups arrange sessions on a termly basis, so you are advised to make contact first to check term dates.
